Sports has played an enormous role in shaping who I am today. As a former collegiate athlete, I know firsthand the discipline, resilience, and leadership skills that come with pushing yourself to be the best you can be on the field or court. But even beyond the competitive aspect of sports, it's the lessons I learned and the connections I made that have stayed with me throughout my life.
That's why in 2018, I launched W.I.T.S - #WomenInspiredThroughSports. This organization is made up of a collective group of women who have overcome adversity and have become the strong, confident leaders they are today through the power of sports. Whether they still pursue athletics or not, these women know that the lessons they learned on the field have helped shape their character and have given them the tools they need to succeed in all areas of life.
To all the women out there who continue to push themselves physically and mentally through sports and other forms of physical activity, I applaud you. You are the embodiment of discipline, resilience, and strength, and you inspire others to do the same. We carry the confidence, the drive, and the determination we gained through sports and use it every day to become the strong leaders we were always meant to be.
If you’re wondering why “WITS?” It’s simple, we’re witty. Former athletes possess a quick and clever sense of humor, sharp intelligence, excellent communication skills, and the ability to make light of tense situations both on and off the field. In every room, you can tell who’s played a sport and who hasn’t. These women push themselves, they strive for excellence, and ultimately are part of a group who share their passion and commitment to being the best one can be.
